Lest We Forget

For the last week of term our inquiry focussed on the ANZAC's.

Sharon and Mrs Hosie had great acting skills and we all totally believed the scenario they set up for us!!!  Each group had an envelope with an artifact or two in it.  As a group, we had to decide how we could use that to educate younger members of the school about a particular aspect of our ANZAC history.

We only had a few days in which to research and develop our knowledge before setting up educational learning stations on Friday.

On Friday, we opened our museum to the rest of the school and were over whelmed with the response. Nearly every class in the school visited.  It was loud and a bit chaotic but we did a fantastic job of presenting the information in a fun and interactive way so that the younger students went away with a better understanding of history.

Lisa Brawn art

With Mrs Bibby-Smith for art we have been doing our own versions of wood cuts. We used Lisa Brawn's examples to guide us. To start with we got our picture taken with a programme that turned it into a sketch. Then we got a piece of clear plastic and trace the main lines of our face onto it. Once that was done we had to draw lines on our face that made us look slightly 3D. After all of that was done we had to colour in our pictures on a blank piece of paper. We had to choose bright and contrasting colours. When we had finished the colour stage we put the colour and the marker pages together and  got our faces, Lisa Brawn style.

Anzac Trip

On Wednesday April 17th, our class and room 11 took a trip off to founders park for the Anzac 'Lest We Forget' experience. We had originally planned to visit Cobb's Cottage also, but it was cancelled because of the rain.

Canabalisim Rap!

Sittin’ by the fire, fillin’ my desire
give them a marshmallow, watch them turning yellow
fill ‘im with poison, first we chuck the boys in.

Watching Chelsea, now we cook Alfie.
Everybody’s thin, boil Benjamin.
Writing with a pen, now we kill Ben.
Add a little saffron, now we braise Cameron.
Here’s a cocker spaniel, now we roast Daniel.
Put him in a cake, now we bake Jake.
He is such a lamie, now we cook Jamie.
Go get the axe, and chop up Max.
Hide him in a shack, now we toast Mac.
He’s such a cheater, now we slice Peter.
Not a famous jockey, now we scramble Lochie.
Put him in a sack, now we blend Zac.
He is such pain, now we serve Zane.

Boy it is shady, now we cook the ladies.
War and peace, fry Analese.
Peel of the skin, to eat Bethan.
A word that’s not Atherine, now we deep fry Catherine.
Dinner by the sea, Eatin’ Emily.
Fillin’ our belly, with chunks of Ellie.
She wins every race, now we dice Grace.
On a dinner plate, we devour Kate.
cut off her limbs, mash Shaylem.
Cheese & onion toastie, filled with Sophie.
She’s hardly cinderella, now we eat Stella (Bella).
She’s not a sailor, time to mince Michaela.
Now for the last-ia, time to simmer Katja.
Say fair farren, now we satay Sharon.

We’ll come back as ghosts - AND YOU’LL BE THE SPIT ROAST...

We're going on a Easter egg hunt and we're going to find some!

Every year the House Leaders organize a Easter egg hunt. We usually run around looking for clues but this year we did something different. We made the houses complete challenges and the House leaders read out the clues.

The first challenge we did was finding puzzle pieces that were hidden around the school. Once they were all found they fitted together to make a egg. When they had finished that the next thing they had to do was either do a wheel barrow race or decorate a giant Easter egg with chalk. When they had finished that the houses would swap. When all of the houses had done both activities, The next clue was a wanted poster of Mr Chalmers, who was hiding in Room 11. When the clue was read out all of the houses went to Room 11 to get their Easter egg from Mr Chalmers. But there was something wrong with Mr Chalmers. He was dressed as the Easter Bunny!

Overall the Easter egg hunt ended being the best one so far. So there is a challenge for the year 7. Let's see if they can make an even better one than this years.
